Pennies
for the Pantry
SCS
Lenten Service Project
For many of us, an
empty shelf means we will be heading to the grocery store to buy more. For some,
an empty shelf just means there is nothing to eat for dinner.
As a service
ministry during the season of Lent the Christian Education Committee invites you
to join the Sunday Church School in collecting
pennies and non-perishable food items for the Park Ave. Food Pantry.
It is our prayer
that this ministry will help to provide much needed food for those who are
hungry in Moxham.

Worship Service
Sunday, March 20 at
11:00 a.m.
Planning and
participating in the leadership of worship is part of our catechism ministry
here at MLC. Youth in our catechism and mentoring ministries will learn about
the components of the worship service while planning and leading a worship
service.
This
is an important part of each youth’s preparation for confirmation.
This year the
catechism class will be baking communion bread for the service.

“To
Save A Life” Movie Event for Parents
Parents:
We all know how
challenging it is to be a teenager in the 21st century. We also know that there
are challenges for parents and families of teens. We care about our youth and
about the important adults in their lives. At MLC we are a community of faith
and a family. We feel that none of God’s children should face life’s
challenges alone; especially our youth.
Members of the youth
committee went to see the movie “To Save A Life” at a local congregation
this past fall. The film addresses the very tough topics our youth are hearing
about and facing at school and elsewhere. We believe that viewing and discussing
the movie will be of value for our youth and their families.
We will be showing the
movie in two parts for parents and other concerned adults at 9:30 a.m. (during
Sunday Church School) on February 13 and 20. We will have time for conversation
about what we see in the movie and how we might work together to love and
support our youth. The conversation does not have to end on February 20. We can
schedule additional times for continued conversation.
We plan to show the
movie for our High School Youth in March.
See you on the 13th!
In
Christ,
The
MLC Youth and Family Ministry Committee
