Spirited Women

The Spirited Women of Christ Lutheran Church are a many-faceted group.  We gather together in the following ways:

  • Monday evening Bible studies
  • Sunday morning coffee sales in the Holy Grounds coffee shop
  • Speakers / presentations at the Corner Bakery (Arlington Heights).  From September through June, all women are invited to attend a meaningful presentation on topics related to women's issues.

Spirited Women history

In 2001, three women gathered to study Discipleship Essentials: A Guide to Building Your Life in Christ by Greg Ogden.  Their friendship grew into a close bond.  They wanted to share their girlfriend-ships with other women at CLC to rejuvenate women's fellowships in our congregation.

From humble beginnings, the Spirited Women have grown to a sizable group.

It is our wish that all women (college-age and better) feel a welcoming presence when they're among us.  We strive to be a source of support and fellowship for all our friends.

Holy Grounds Coffee Shop

The same three women who founded the Spirited Women group had a vision.  They wanted a welcoming place within the church building -- and the idea for a coffee shop was born.

Several names were tossed around the room until they settled on 'Holy Grounds'.

Countless volunteers worked to bring the Holy Grounds vision to life.  The coffee shop is a cozy place to meet.

The coffee shop sells premium coffee blends, hot tea, hot chocolate and bottled water.   All are priced at $1.00 (but we're most happy to take additional monies in our donation jar).

Proceeds from the coffee shop sales are donated to organizations outside our walls as part of our promise of benevolence.
